Accounting & Finance Intern

The Accounting & Finance Intern is responsible for supporting the FP&A and Accounting organization at the North Division’s Business Support Center (BSC). This position allows for a hands-on experience where the individual is able to work alongside Analysts and Staff Accountants to gain perspective on concepts learned in class and how they apply in day-to-day work in the FP&A and Accounting departments. This role will work closely with members of the Division Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) departments. 

Particularly you will:

  • Responsible for month-end procedures, including the preparation and posting of journal entries
  • Completes general ledger account analysis, research and preparation of account reconciliations
  • Assists with the preparation of reports and other information related to internal requests from the Division/Branches as well as Corporate
  • Assists with the preparation of reports to fulfill information requests from external and internal auditors
  • Assist in the investment management process including:  
  • Ensure capital projects are created timely in SAP
  • Preparation of fixed asset retirement and transfer forms
  • Assist in the construction in progress (CIP) review
  • Ensures compliance with the Company’s financial policies/procedures
  • Assist in reviewing month end results for anomalies 
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financials

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university majoring in Finance, Accounting, Management, or Business Junior or Senior level; future graduate.
  • Exposure to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools or Financial applications, preferably SAP.
  • Strong mathematical skills as well as the ability to problem solve and verify data.
  • Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships and strives to understand customer’s needs, both internal and external.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data in both statistical and narrative form.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prepare files and maintain records and documentation.
  • A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and/or Google Suite applications.
  • Ambition to build a career in Finance and Leadership.
