Senior Design Consultant - Food Service

In the Senior Design Consultant - Food Service position, you'll be responsible for creating and communicating appealing design concepts that meet our client’s needs and create revenue for our business while ensuring an excellent client experience.  The Senior Foodservice Design Consultant has advanced knowledge of foodservice consulting, design, operations and equipment, and can effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, vendor partners and internal Direct Supply team members.

 

This position works within our Aptura business.

What You’ll Do and Impact: 

  • Responsible for all phases of the design process for all sizes of renovations and new development projects.
  • Participate in business development opportunities with Aptura and other Direct Supply sales partners. Consult with external clients to understand their design needs.
  • Understand client goals and building operations related to both front of house and back of house spaces.
  • Evaluate existing architectural plans and documentation. Integrate findings with experience in and knowledge of foodservice design and equipment.
  • Responsible for schematic design through complete code assessment, formulating preliminary equipment plans and equipment lists utilizing AutoCAD and KCL for client discussion and approval.
  • Develop presentation items for client including sketches and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Develop equipment plans and legends and generate equipment cut-sheets for client discussion and approval. Create Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) schedules.
  • Develop construction documents such as drawings and legends to include equipment rough-in plans, building works plans and elevations and complete equipment specifications using AutoQuotes and MasterFormat.
  • Review and respond to health department comments.
  • Ownership of the contract administration, will review and approve shop drawings and submittals.
  • Promote effective relationships with our clients, within Aptura, and throughout Direct Supply by working closely and effectively with Aptura design teams, external vendors, and project partners.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Experience:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design 
  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial, Hospitality, Healthcare or Senior Living industries working with foodservice drawings and equipment
  • Ability to read plans  
  • Ability to travel by car and/or plane up to 30%
  • Valid, unexpired driver's license with satisfactory driving record 

 

Additional Items of Interest:

  • Education or experience in dietary or other Foodservice related field
