About the Position:

Under the general

direction of a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor) the incumbent is an interdisciplinary team member performing the most complex tasks to facilitate timely delivery of transportation projects. The incumbent shall perform all the duties of a project biologist in the Environmental Stewardship Branch under the Environmental Scientist classification. In addition, the incumbent shall independently identify and develop courses of action for complex problems including emergency procedures, mitigation strategies, GIS analysis, and cumulative impacts analysis. The incumbent shall be the lead on assessing and permitting biological resources for transportation projects including NEPA review and species consultation for Local Assistance projects. The incumbent shall provide enhanced services for local agencies as assigned. The incumbent shall facilitate state and federal regulatory permit coordination by closely tracking and reporting on the status of permits for the Environmental Stewardship Branch. The incumbent must stay informed of changes related to state and federal environmental laws and policies and may lead or organize trainings on such matters for the Program. The incumbent shall develop training materials and provide species trainings for field maintenance staff. The incumbent is responsible for training and mentoring new staff and student assistants.
