Summer Internship 2024 – Intern, OPS IT

Who you are:

The Information Technology Department acts as both a strategic partner and service provider for the Institute. Asa strategic partner, we collaborate with teams to extend the use of collaborative technology tools into their daily work. As a service provider, we ensure the stability of the infrastructure and provide professional support to all its users. 

We are currently seeking a Summer Information Technology Intern to work in our central offices at Industry City in Brooklyn, NY as well as remotely starting in June 3rd 2024.   

The intern will be assigned to assist the Vera’s IT Department staff with providing computer hardware, software and technical support to Vera staff.  In this position, the intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in all aspects of Information Technology. The internship can be used for school credit.   

What you'll do:

  • Troubleshoot level 1 helpdesk tickets, shadow Helpdesk analysts, learn how to deal work through hardware and software issues.
  • Create workflows for new Solarwinds service desk system, test existing forms, assist in improving existing workflows. 
  • Get new laptops on domain, check IP address, make sure printers are properly mapped.  
  • Rebuilding, configuring and setup of desktops and laptops. 
  • Installing software on desktops and laptops   
  • Replacing hardware on desktops and laptops / wiping computer images  

What qualifications are we looking for?

 A full or part time undergraduate pursuing a B.S degree in Computer Science, Information technology, Information Management or similar discipline or a Technical Vocational school

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities you'll bring: 

  • Strong MS Office skills, Windows 10 skills   
  • Some computer hardware skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional presentation  
  • Some experience with Windows Server, Active Directory & other Networking technologies (not required)  
  • Any Microsoft certification or relevant IT certification

Technical knowledge we need you to be prepared to use:

Windows 10, Microsoft Office

Location:

Please note this role will report to our Brooklyn, N.Y office. Vera interns and employees adhere to a hybrid schedule and are in-office on an alternating schedule. Full-time positions generally amount to 10 days per month. Part-time positions generally amount to 5 days per month.

Schedule:

The intern should be available to work up t0 30 hours per week during the summer. The dates will be between June 5th and August 11th, with some flexibility to accommodate personal and academic schedules.

Compensation:

The compensation range for internships is $16.00 - $25.00 per hour. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience and performance. Applicants may choose to receive academic credit. For those who need to earn academic credit, Vera will gladly assist in working with the school or program to make arrangements and meet requirements.
