Community Health Services Development Specialist (AmeriCorps VISTA)

Promote awareness and expand services of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in low-income and underserved communities through sustaining current and future funding.

The Community Health Services (CHS) Division of the Association for Utah Community Health (AUCH) staffs CHWs in Utah’s communities statewide. They are responsible for oversight and implementation of all direct service projects, supporting and implementing models of health service beyond clinic walls to empower clients to engage in their care and health care outcomes. Across the country, CHWs have become part of the nation’s health care foundation, distinguished by their mission to their communities, the quality of their care, and their affordability & accessibility to all regardless of ability to pay. Be a part of a broader movement to improve the access to and quality of healthcare services among low-income communities in Utah.

Position goals/responsibilities:

  • Research and write grant proposals
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to collect data and prepare grants for submission
  • Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers
  • Organize and manage partner stewardship events
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to CHS programs and projects

This position is a full-time, one-year commitment to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. While you will not receive a wage or salary, you will receive a bi-weekly living allowance and other benefits (listed above), including the Segal Education Award at the end of your service,

Eligibility/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (min), preferably a health care related
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Successful completion of criminal background check
  • This position is sponsored through AmeriCorps which requires applicant hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses:
    • US citizen or US National
    • Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status)
    • Person legally residing within a state (Example: refugee, asylee, temporary protected status, and DACA status.)
