GBH News Digital Video Accelerator Project Internship - Summer 2024

At GBH, we believe in the advantages of coming together to build community, mentor and learn from colleagues, and connect more deeply with our mission. As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

GBH News creates and broadcast original content on multiple platforms including Radio, TV, and Digital. GBH News team covers and produces local and national news including in-depth feature stories and interviews, covering a wide range of topics.

JOB OVERVIEW

The GBH News Video Intern will join the video news production team to develop news content for YouTube.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct story research - including sourcing, pre-interviews and identifying shoot locations
  • Visual asset creation and sourcing
  • Assist with studio and field shoots
  • Postproduction support including video editing, motion graphics animation and documentation
  • Content promotion and distribution including creating social toolkits, developing SEO-rich descriptions and posting content.
  • Assessment, including compiling and analyzing analytics across platforms.

SKILL SET

  • Interest in journalism, digital video and innovative non-fiction storytelling
  • Experience making motion graphics and editing video
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for shaping news stories on video
  • Passion for current events, local news and pop culture
  • Knowledge of YouTube and other social platforms
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud software, especially Premiere and After Effects
  • Experience shooting video and/or graphic design a plus
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects, tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to grasp concepts quickly and apply to daily tasks
  • Personal integrity and ability to manage confidential information appropriately
  • Willingness to learn

JOB-STATUS

Paid Internship $17/hour (Part-time)

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

GBH internships provide students with valuable work experience and real-world knowledge across many different fields of study, from TV and radio production to web design, accounting, law, and other administrative areas.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

  • Interns must be available to work on-site at GBH in Boston.
  • Internship Dates: June 10th to August 16th.
  • Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wi-Fi. Candidates must be in an Undergrad or Grad program and have work authorization for the United States.
