IT Operations Intern

Overview: 

The IT operations intern assists the HRST Information Technology department in supporting the technology environments of our nine offices worldwide. This position will provide the candidate with first-hand experience of what it takes to provide technology services to a highly distributed workforce. Candidates will get a chance to work on multiple new initiatives including a hardware inventory and lifecycle study, the refining and documentation of standardized end user support procedures, and their choice of a few other new and fun incentives. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist and provide support for projects on implementation, upgrade or support of new or existing software per the direction of the IT Operations Staff. 
  • Assist with the documentation of systems configurations and assets deployed to end users. 
  • Assist with the generation of standardized support procedures and policy documents. 
  • Work with IT Operations Staff to research, implement, and support a project of the candidate’s choosing. Some project possibilities include a(n): 
  • Hardware lifecycle management program 
  • Backup replication and disaster recovery plan 
  • Revision of wireless networking products for deployment at customer sites supporting our Duct Burner Camera system 
  • Creation of a front end for a critical back-end database 
  • Other project suggested by the candidate and approved by the IT Manager 

 

Qualifications 

  • Education 
    • Active enrollment in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related program. 
  • Skills 
    • Knowledge and Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) 
    • Basic knowledge of networking skills including the functions of wireless access points, switches, routers, and firewalls. 
    • Beginner Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2019 to 2022 operating systems, SQL 2017-2022, and IIS. 
  • Abilities 
    • Ability to lift 40 pounds 
    • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to assist staff in resolving issues regarding daily electronics use 
    • Ability to think outside the box on complex issues requiring creative problem solving 
    • Ability to plan, develop, document, test, evaluate, implement, execute and troubleshoot new installations and problems encountered during daily operations 
    • Ability to ensure confidentiality and integrity of company data
