Camp Paivika, one of the first fully accessible camps in the U.S., is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team. Nestled in the stunning San Bernardino National Forest, we offer a nurturing and fun-filled environment for children and adults with developmental and physical disabilities, including autism, ADHD, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and Down syndrome.

AbilityFirst is looking for compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities, from children as young as seven to older adults. Our camp provides a vibrant and supportive environment where every day is an adventure! 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide personal care and supervision to campers, including dressing, bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility assistance.
  • Engage in various training sessions and staff orientation week to prepare for the summer.
  • Collaborate with the Unit Director and program staff to ensure a safe, fun, and enriching camp experience for all.
  • Document and report on camper progress and activities.
  • Share in the responsibilities of cabin duty and activity facilitation.
  • Participate in the setup and cleanup of camp facilities for each session.
  • Step up in emergency situations as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff.

Qualifications

Who You Are

  • Someone with experience in working with individuals with disabilities (preferred, but not required).
  • Physically capable of assisting campers of varying weights and abilities.
  • Committed to the values and policies of AbilityFirst.
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willing to reside on camp premises during camp sessions.
