The mission of the  Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) is to: 

  • Partner with leadership across the Authority to create and ensure adherence to a consistent demand-management and business-justification process for all Project and Program investments
  • Be transparent about the impacts and outcomes of our Portfolio, Program, and Project investment decisions
  • Enable the Authority to better align such investments with organizational and asset management strategies, plans, and business objectives, to support their prioritization and optimization

 

This role as a portfolio analyst intern will primarily focus on collaborating with various business units to develop comprehensive business cases for key projects. The intern will assist in analyzing projects, which will encompass areas such as generation and transmission, delving into technical details, financial viability, and risk assessment to ensure informed decision-making and strategic alignment with Authority's VISION2030.The portfolio analyst intern will play a crucial role in providing analytical support for project business case development as well as project selection and prioritization, aligning with the EPMO's goals and objectives. 

 

The work is aligned with students pursuing Engineering degree. Basic understanding of financial modeling and risk analysis preferred.

 

Our paid 10-week Summer Developmental Internship program runs from June 4 - August 9. As an Intern, you will receive professional development, on-the job experience in the energy industry, exposure to executives, and networking opportunities to help build a solid foundation for your future career. Responsibilities

 

  • Participate in department-specific projects, analysis, research methods and learn project management skills
  • Support team in developing business solutions that contribute to NYPA’s VISION2030 strategic goals
  • Research industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to the continuous improvement of our programs
  • Other projects as assigned; will vary based on focus area
     

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task with competing priorities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a team
  • Provide positive customer service for internal and external stakeholders

 

Education, Experience and Certifications

 

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States for the duration of the internship from June 4 - August 9

Physical Requirements

 

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The hourly rate for this position is based on the level of education at the time the intern program begins:

LEVEL

HOURLY RATE

Sophomore  $17.50

Junior $21.50

Senior (or May 2024 graduate) $21.50

Current graduate/law student $24.50
