Systems Management Intern

Internship Summary

While interning at Boar’s Head you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real projects.  In addition to working on live projects, you will also have the opportunity to participate in lunch in learns hosted by our Head of Learning and Development.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

A Systems Engineering Internship offers students a lot to learn. The internship itself consists largely of being mentored by professionals in the field and seeing them work and handle different tasks, procedures, and problems that may arise. It is often a great opportunity to meet and connect with people that the Intern may work with later on in their career.

Deliverables for this position:

  • Configure and setup Windows Servers
  • Manage and administer VMWare environments
  • Assist with patching activities
  • Manage and administer Microsoft Active Directory
  • Troubleshoot and resolve end user incidents
  • Manage and administer Microsoft Azure environments

 

Education and Experience 

A potential candidate for a Systems Engineering Internship has to be, at the time of application, enrolled in an undergraduate program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a similar field of study. They also need to have good communication and cooperation skills, analytical skills, past experience, and a good understanding of programming platforms and languages, such as Power Shell, Python, Ansible, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SQL and a passion for learning about the technical and practical knowledge of the industry.

Key Skills needed: 

  • Exposure to Windows and Linux operating systems, database technologies, web application
  • Familiarity with application or network installations, configuration, and/or administration.
  • Exposure to cloud computing technologies. 
  • knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office products especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
