Human Resources Intern

The Phillips Collection's Internship program is open to full-time junior and senior undergraduate students, full-time graduate students, and recent graduates. The purpose of the internship program is to offer students and recent graduates meaningful work, educational experiences, and real-life practice in their fields of academic study and/or interest.

The Human Resources Intern performs a variety of administrative and operational duties that are aligned with strengthening organizational systems, policies and the employee experience (from recruitment through retirement).


Duration: Internships run ten to fifteen weeks and 12-24 hours per week. Internship length and schedule may vary depending on the needs of the department. This internship will run from June 3rd- August 16th, 2024. 

 

Academic Credit: Depending on the nature of the internship and approval of the student's college or university, academic credit may be granted for internships. Student applicants should consult their academic advisor for additional information.

Duties & Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to):

 

  • Assists with the implementation and management of employee programs such as the Temporary Detail Program and the Employee Training Program.
  • Assists with Human Resources hosted onsite events.
  • Assists with management of HR digital and paper files.
  • Routinely reports industry trends and state and federal employment legislation changes. Will be required to research specific guidelines and regulations about employment law.
  • Attends employee meetings and other meetings that may be required from time to time.
  • Performance of additional administrative work as assigned.

 

Requirements & Qualifications

 

  • Onsite and virtual attendance 24 hours per week, required.
  • Background in human resources management, organizational development, or business education related fields
  • Prior experience working in the field of human resources management is helpful
  • Prior professional office work experience required
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Excellent customer service skills
