Summer Intern/Device Development

Department Description:

GSK’s Packaging, Device and Design Solutions team is charged with the delivery of robust, patient-centric devices and primary packaging solutions to enable the effective delivery of novel pharmaceuticals across all modalities and routes of administration. Our group is a multi-skilled team of Engineers and Scientists who work across all stages of the product and process development lifecycle, from the discovery interface through concept design, selection and, ultimately, the registrational submission and commercial supply. 

Job Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic development engineer/scientist/student intern to support early device workstreams for our increasingly complex drug-device combination (DDC) products. You will join a dynamic and growing team that are key to delivering an expanding portfolio.

In this role you will:

  • Support early device development and innovation workstreams for the next generation of biopharmaceutical combination product projects.
  • Co-ordinate and involve feasibility assessments of new device platforms through planning, evaluating, and analyzing technical feasibility to ensure device safety and performance and define device design space.
  • Use problem-solving skills and different strategies to support risk mitigation activities and/or root cause analysis for interrogation of test results.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the 12 week assignment.
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience or interest in development of drug-device combination (DDC) products or medical devices
  • Experience working in a lab and following SOPs
  • Creative and motivated self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in team and matrix environments

Benefits:

  • While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
