Finance Analyst Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will have the opportunity to touch all aspects of the Finance & Business Operations department, including Accounting, Project Controlling, Financial Reporting and Data Analytics, as well as working on various process improvements. This position specifically will be focused on analyzing and preparing financial statements and reports such as income and inventory statements, balance sheets, and statements of financial position.

 

The position will be based in Holland, Michigan and reports directly to the Plant Controller at Magna Engineered Glass.

ESSENTIALJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports manufacturing thru providing accurate and meaningful operations reports.
  • Provides support and testing of the plants’ Sarbanes Oxley reporting requirements.
  • Performs bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and various standard monthly reports.
  • Assists with analysis of profit and loss income statements, and prepares reports on findings to make recommendations to management.
  • Work on special projects as required by management.
  • Performs all work in compliance with Engineered Glass Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all federal, State and local laws; promptly reports any hazardous condition or workplace injury to immediate supervisor or EHS designates.
  • Prepares detailed analysis of overtime reports; maintains reports on Continuous Improvement activities in the PowerBI system; assists with system implementations impacting finance & operations. 
  • Support process improvement initiatives within the finance department and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with IT to propose and implement system solutions to automate daily tasks.
  • Gain exposure to various Global Business Solutions and ERP platforms such as QAD, Onestream, and MES.
  • Term end presentation to management

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Junior or Senior status students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or business-related field.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles to be able to interpret financial statements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and analyze data and develop recommendations.
  • Motivated to improve accounting and finance processes.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)

PHYSICALDEMANDS:

  • Computer Work: Extended periods of sitting and computer use are required for data analysis and communication tasks.
  • Shop Floor: Occasional visits to the production floor involve standing, walking, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
