Who We Are
BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.
The BioMarin GxP Compliance function is tasked with providing independent assurance services designed to enhance scientific innovation with effective risk management. The GxP Compliance team partners with the business to strengthen the commitment to compliance by advising cross-functional teams through the Strategy subfunction and identifying and mitigating risk through the Audit subfunction. Within GxP Compliance, Business Operations is responsible for leading the growth of the continuous improvement culture.
SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:
The intern will work closely with Compliance leaders in gathering system requirements for the enhancement project of the internal Quality Management System (Veeva QMS). In addition, the intern will assist in refreshing the Compliance roles and responsibilities handbook, training map, and employee onboarding materials. This role will include training in various systems to manage the different content requiring updates and redesign.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Meeting with stakeholders to gather required information.
- Develop material and/or enhance content.
- Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WI).
- Organize and potentially lead meetings.
- Keep detailed account of all in-progress and/or completed work.
BioMarin’s summer internship program will take place over a 10 to 12-week period from June through August 2024.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of creativity.
- Basic project management experience.
- Proficient computer skills and in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Outlook and Power Point).
- Must be a self-starter, comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Organized and capable of multi-tasking. Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to produce quality deliverables and motivated to work with tight deadlines.
- Excels at working collaboratively with others.
- Passionate about learning about business development in a high pace environment.

Qualifications/Eligibility:
- 3rd, 4th year bachelor or master’s candidate
- Life science or business degree
