Intern, Tax Services 

Spring 2025 (January through April)

Interns work as team members in the Tax Services Department. Interns are provided the opportunity to gain professional insight and knowledge to approach research, apply regulations and gain technical accounting skills during the program. There is direct contact with the firm’s tax professionals focused and invested in creating a robust internship experience. Tax internships are intended to develop students for future full-time career opportunities. 

Primary Responsibilities

Interns work on a team responsible for preparing individual, business, and trust tax returns. During the internship there is a focus on gaining proficiency in the use of various accounting and tax software packages, a document management system, MS Office as well as other firm software and related processes. Other responsibilities for interns include:

  • Organize client records, accounting information and remain focused on timely submission of individual work to support the department workflow process.
  • Gain an understanding of the cycle used to deliver an optimal client product.
  • Prepare workpapers and assist in tax return preparations.
  • Complete tax research assignments or participate in special projects.
  • Maintain ownership of assigned work while looking for opportunities to become a resource within the tax team.
  • Demonstrate skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration and problem solving.

Qualifications

  • Earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or related business program) maintaining 3.0 GPA.
  • Desires to achieve CPA and/or Master’s Degree and may have coursework built into a college curriculum for this track; is anticipating a career with a public accounting firm.
  • Self-managed and detail oriented.
  • Proficient with computers and in the use of software and spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to multitask and complete assignments within time constraints.
  • Ability to learn independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to conduct daily work with a professional and cooperative attitude.
  • Ability to maintain excellent interpersonal communication skills to build strong internal colleague and external client relationships.
  • Able to work at the office location throughout the internship.
