Emergency Management and Business Continuity Planning Intern

The Emergency Management and Business Continuity Planning Intern will be based in the New York office and will assist with emergency management and business continuity efforts. The intern will report to the Senior Manager of Business Continuity.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop an awareness of components of the Business Continuity and Emergency Management Program and the Firm’s approach to business continuity and emergency management.
  • Assist and liaise with local office management and departments with updating business continuity plans.
  • Support the development and implementation of emergency and business continuity policies and plans. 
  • Review and modify emergency preparedness documents and plans.
  • Develop an understanding of crisis management, impacts due to emergency events, and assist with response efforts. 
  • Participate in all exercises and trainings; document and maintain testing and training documentation.
  • Assist in ad hoc projects as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program. Eligible majors include: Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Security Management, Public Administration, or a related field
  • Strong interest in emergency management, risk management, crisis communications, and/or business continuity
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • General understanding of operational risk, business process improvement, and risk-related control frameworks
  • Ability to adjust to new, different, or changing requirements while conveying a sense of urgency
  • Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous projects and work independently.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

 

This internship will run from June 3, 2024 through July 26, 2024.


This position will require physical presence in Proskauer’s offices on a regular basis (at least 3x per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the Firm or as business needs require). The anticipated compensation for this position is $17 per hour. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
