Intern - Business Intelligence Analyst-Network - Sioux Falls, SD

 

Learn and assist the Network Intelligence team by data mining, analyzing, and preparing dashboards and reports that support network performance and reliability. Will participate in all aspects of departmental and cross-departmental projects supporting strategic objectives, engineering priorities and Midco’s best-class Network.

KEY FUNCTIONS:
 

  • Contribute to the organizational vision to drive innovation.
  • Attend cross-departmental meetings to learn about business practices, internal processes, and procedures.
  • Collect data and successfully analyze complex data sets and produce/present comprehensive reports.
  • Interpret data and develop process improvements to enhance overall Network Intelligence, provide evidence to support recommendations.
  • Leverage multiple data sources to conduct exploratory data mining to surface performance and reliability trends for quick resolution and overall support of Midco’s goal of a best-in-class Network.
  • Develop and produce concise reports with insights supported by analytics and business logic.
  • Understand and work proficiently with analytical tools and models.
  • Learn to develop, manage, standardize, and maintain administrative reporting metrics and process improvement reports for the Network Intelligence group.
  • Learn to present results and to assist in making recommendations for improvements in quality and efficiency.
  • Understand the data collection and reporting processes through Tableau for the Network Intelligence group.
  • Think strategically to conduct analysis after network impacting events and report on potential impact, root cause, residual effects and steps taken to resolve; identify trending and opportunities to minimize negative impacts to Midco’s customers and network reliability.
  • Contribute to the success of the overall Network Intelligence group.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally in all forms of communication with internal and external customers.
  • Adhere to Midco privacy guidelines to ensure each customer’s privacy.
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by your position.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, analytics, mathematics, or business management, or related field of study.
  • Familiarity with SQL and Tableau preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
  • Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings and weekends as business demands.
