Environmental Engineer II (Mid Level)

The AECOM Remediation Practice is seeking a junior level Environmental Engineer to join our team based in Clifton, New Jersey.  The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering professional consulting services to our key clients. This is a hybrid work model requiring 2-3 days per week in the office. This position also requires some fieldwork within the northeast United States region.
 
The successful candidate will join a large established team conducting environmental assessment and remediation projects across New York and New Jersey. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication skills, organizational and time management skills, flexibility to work on a range of projects, and a positive attitude. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a project team.
 
The successful candidate will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures and will effectively manage the quality of field efforts and project deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.

The job responsibilities for the position will include, but will not be limited to:

Performing routine fieldwork working under close supervision from project managers. Field work may include soil, sediment, surface water and/or groundwater sampling, operation and maintenance of remedial systems, and remedial construction oversight including subcontractor management.

Participating in site visits and coordinating and assisting field staff as required.

Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Develop knowledge of job-specific federal, state, and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.

Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Receiving, reviewing and submitting documents for approval (Submittals/ RFIs/ etc.).

Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks as needed.

Creating designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

Using computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in remediation consulting firm
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental investigations and site remediation
  • Experience with CERCLA and RCRA remediation programs at complex sites
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, Bluebeam)
  • Experience with construction documentation, construction management systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (NJ locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $105,000.
