Summer Technician/Intern

Job Title: Summer Technician - Human Risk Assessment Study

Overview: Dr. Xiaoyu Xu’s lab in the University of Georgia is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Summer Technician to assist with a research project focused on human risk assessment. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in scientific research and data collection methodologies while contributing to a meaningful study.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in recruiting participants from the local Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) community for the research study.
  • Distribute surveys to participants, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data collection.
  • Collect and organize samples as per the study requirements.
  • Aid in the organization and maintenance of research data.
  • Collaborate with the research team to ensure smooth operation of the project.
  • Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program (e.g., Biology, Environmental Science, Psychology, Sociology, etc.) or recent graduate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with participants and team members.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience in research or data collection is preferred but not required.
  • Must be available to work full-time during the summer months (start and end dates negotiable).
