Overview

The Summer Intern will have the unique opportunity in getting to see the ins and outs of all aspects of running both our arena and theatre. The12 week program is designed to have the intern immerse themselves in a new branch of the arena machine every two weeks; to include Events, Operations, Box Office, Marketing, Premium/Partnerships and Finance/Booking. This will allow the intern to see how each department runs separately and how each plays a vital role in making all events a success.

 

 

This role will pay an hourly wage of $12.00.

About the Venue

OVG 360 has an exciting opportunity for a Summer Intern at Johnny Mercer Theatre and Enmarket Arena. Enmarket Arena is a 9,500 capacity multipurpose venue with luxury suites, club seating, and first-rate food and beverage. In it’s first year of opening, Enmarket Arena has played host to multiple sold out concerts, family shows, top rated comedy acts and much more! In November 2022 the Enmarket Arena hosted the southeast’s newest ECHL hockey team, the Savannah Ghost Pirates for their inaugural season. Johnny Mercer Theatre is home to numerous events every year such as Broadway Musicals, concerts, professional ballets, and comedy shows. The theater seats 2,600 and boasts one of the largest prosceniums in the Southeast. Named after famous composer, Johnny Mercer, the theater has been a staple to the Savannah area hosting entertainment legends such as Jerry Seinfeld, Chicago, and Patty LaBelle since its opening in 1974.

Responsibilities

Interacts with other facility staff in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner

· Will be assisting in touring the facility to prospective and new clients in preparation for their event

· Work with assigned departments to timely and accurately communicate with building staff all requirements necessary

· Assist assigned departments with planning and preparation for events.

· Aid in presenting event previews/reviews in weekly staff meeting for assigned department

· Understand how to conduct marketing research, market events, and help to create a positive guest experience

· Support in prospecting, cultivating, selling and maintaining relationships to aid in the sales process of premium seating and corporate sponsorship

· Experience the event planning process from booking, finance, marketing and execution

· Learn the intricate details of daily operation and maintenance of the facility and all systems.

· Assist in the building ticket sales and market research for an event

Qualifications

Open to: College juniors, seniors, or graduate students

· Proficient with computers in Windows format and experience in Word, Excel

· Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

· Attention to detail

· Ability to work independently at times

· Must be self---motivated with a ‘can---do’ attitude and a strong desire to learn

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Availability to work nights and/or weekends when necessary
