Description

 

 

 

We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated individual who is passionate about local food, local farmers, and social media marketing to help manage the Downtown Bloomington Farmers’ Market and other downtown events. If you’re an ambitious individual who wants to build a career in local food, social media, content marketing, or program administration, then we want to work with you! Your work will include providing administrative and marketing support to the Downtown Bloomington Farmers’ Market and providing support to other downtown events. 

 

Examples of Duties

 

 

 

  • Developing a social media marketing plan for the farmers’ market
  • Handling inquiries from Farmers’ Market customers and vendors both in person and digitally over email and social media communications
  • Preparing materials for each week’s market
  • Assisting with scheduling and booth assignments for 70+ vendors at the market and community groups
  • Assisting with set-up and tear-down of the farmers’ market each week (Note: this requires arriving at the Farmers’ Market by 6 a.m. each Saturday morning May-August. Tear-down is normally completed with 20 minutes following the market closing at 12 p.m.)
  • Recording vendor attendance and collecting vendor fees as required each week
  • Staffing an information booth at each Saturday market, providing information about Downtown Bloomington and the Farmers’ Market
  • Providing additional support for other events in Downtown Bloomington

 

Typical Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Current enrollment in an undergraduate course for marketing, communications, or a similar field.
  • Familiarity with marketing software, websites, and social media platforms.
  • Good understanding of the latest marketing trends and techniques.
  • Excellent research, writing, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding multitasking abilities.
  • Some artistic and graphic design experience would be helpful, but not required.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 lbs.
