Dining Hall Steward Hospitality Internship

Hospitality internship: The Dining Hall Steward

– Camp Cobbossee for Boys –

Monmouth, Maine

Camp Cobbossee for Boys seeks a Hospitality intern to work as our Dining Hall Steward throughout our 2 month summer starting June 9th through August 10th, 2024.

The Cobbossee Dining Hall provides 3 meals a day, for our 230 campers and 160 staff. This position is excellent professional development for aspiring front of house managers. The Cobbossee Dining Hall is at the heart of the action everyday. Cobbossee is the second-oldest summer camp in the nation, and has built a reputation on excellent coaching and sports programming, as well as the traditions and activities that make camp such an unusual and transformative experience.

Our food and Dining Hall are jewels in the crown of the Cobbossee experience. The Dining Hall Steward blends together the kitchen team with the management and running of the Dining Hall experience and has an important Community facing role, specifically in relation to managing Seconds, Clean up, Birthday cakes and other go-between duties with the Operations team.

The kids will love you and the counselors will want to please you as the face of the dining hall experience. This role carries responsibility, keeping the camp machine rolling at meals but also provides an opportunity to interact with every table of counselors and campers and the entire Cobbossee community. The Dining Hall Steward will work closely with the Director, Josh, and the Assistant Directors throughout the summer.

This position blends perfectly with an existing appointment at college, as our dates run June 9th to August 10th. A travel allowance is provided as part of the position to subsidize the cost of return travel to and from camp for you.

The base Salary is paid Maine’s hourly minimum wage of $14.15 (overtime is $21.23). We work 6 day weeks at camp, the 6th day is paid at overtime rate. Your summer earnings will top $6k, with earnings of $4k pre-tax after weekly site deductibles of $175 which includes; bed & board, laundry, wifi, facilities use and camp transport. We have excellent athletic facilities! For those with children, especially sons, we can offer them camp scholarships as well.
