Deposit Accountant at Metropolitan Alliance of Connected Communities (MACC)

WAGES AND BENEFITS

Schedule

This is a hybrid position that will require going into the Minneapolis MACC Office at least one day each week.

 

A Typical Day in the Life…

A typical day as MACC’s Deposit Accountant provides an opportunity to provide depositing, invoicing, contract tracking, collections, and audit support for the member agencies assigned to the incumbent’s team. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Obtaining deposit information (dates, amounts, support) and entering information into accounting software with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Depositing checks via mobile banking (bank scanner, etc.)
  • Corroborating deposit support provided from members with amounts deposited and ensuring all support is provided for each deposit.
  • Maintaining deposit support in folders or in Business Central, whichever is appropriate.
  • Applying payments received to outstanding accounts receivable invoices as necessary.
  • Reviewing unapplied payments and moving them where they are needed.
  • Making deposit runs to banks as needed to physically deposit member cash and checks.
  • Saving award letters in audit folders as they are received throughout the year.
  • Recording year-end deposits in correct year per the member’s fiscal year-end.
  • Recording accurate, complete, and timely sales in conjunction with the monthly closes.
  • Maintaining a folder of receivable journals, general journals, and payments as necessary.
  • Recording credits/debits
  • Preparing work papers for annual audits and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Supporting the preparation of financial support for desk audits.

     

Who You Are

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in business or accounting, or you have an associate degree with equivalent work experience.
  • You have at least two years of experience in account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and/or accounts receivable.
  • You have at least two years of experience with accounting software (Microsoft Business Central preferred).
  • You demonstrate excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • You demonstrate strong Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with other Microsoft office products.
  • You have the ability to analyze and reconcile financial information.
  • You have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, with interruptions, simultaneously and accurately.
  • You possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • You have the ability to work independently and use good judgment.
  • You have the ability to work respectfully and communicate effectively with different cultures, groups, and languages.
  • You have the ability to work additional hours, including weekends, as necessary.
  • You have a valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet MACC’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
