Polishing and Welding Supervisor
Summary: Responsible for leading, planning, organizing, and directing daily activities in the polishing and welding department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities including ensuring company policies and procedures are understood and adhered to and application of policies/procedures are applied fairly and consistently; plan, assign, and direct workload for associates; conduct annual performance reviews, as well as disciplinary actions, address and resolve complaints; trains and develops associates; review and approval of timesheets and time off.
- Prioritize workload and ensure parts workflow is efficient in order to meet daily production goals; adjust priorities as needed with minimal disruption and downtime
- Manage and approve department expenditures for supplies, materials, staffing; ensuring that materials, labor and/or equipment are used effectively and efficiently to meet production goals.
- Establish and maintain standard polishing/welding procedures; develop new polishing/welding processes as needed.
- Set department goals and establish performance metrics and plans to meet outlined goals; regularly communicate departmental performance and improvement.
- Create an environment of continuous improvement and associate development by ensuring proper training and cross training is being done throughout the department.
- Support the Business Management System, 5S activities, workplace scans, and cycle counting.
- Promote and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read or interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Knowledge of process improvement, budgeting, and production standards
- Verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information to various audiences
- Planning, problem-solving and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize time wisely
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong aptitude working in an ERP or other related system
- Basic knowledge of welding fundamentals and techniques
- Conflict resolution skills
- Ability to listen, coach, investigate, and exercise initiative
- Ability to work during regular production hours as well as alternative shifts, including weekends as business needs warrant.
- Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend and move about the facility
Education and Work Experience
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in management, business, or relevant technical field; In lieu of degree, previous experience combined with post-secondary education and/or technical training in a relevant field will be considered.
- Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment leading a diverse group of people in a team environment
- Previous TIG welding experience preferred; knowledge of welding techniques and applications required
