Cohen Children’s Medical Center’s Pediatric Emergency Department is the busiest pediatric ED and the busiest pediatric trauma center in the tristate area.

Responsibilities: Academic Associates (AAs) will be integral members of our team in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, participating in all components of our projects. They will assist faculty with ongoing research projects and work collaboratively with one or more mentors in designing new projects of mutual interest. With the guidance of faculty, AAs will learn to perform chart reviews, administer in-person and online surveys, and analyze primary and secondary data.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Assist in quality and performance improvement projects.
  • Coordinate the Division's yearly Pediatric Emergency Medicine Symposium.
  • Provide administrative and research support for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship.
  • Draft and edit research study manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations. Academic Associates will have the added opportunity to participate in the many modalities of medical education that takes place in the division which includes, Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship conference and various clinical educational simulations as well. There will also be opportunities for shadowing of clinicians in the pediatric emergency department. Dr Rocker, the Division Chief, will also lead several personalized educational sessions throughout your time in the position.

Academic Associates will gain a comprehensive perspective on the workings of an academic medical department. Priority will be given to applicants prepared to make a 2-year commitment, though alternate schedule arrangements will be considered.
