2024 Summer Intern, Pharma, Novartis Patient Support (NPS), Payer Business Analyst

The Summer Intern, PSC Payer Business Analyst (BA)role will provide support that impacts the products and patients that we support. The Payer BA will assist the Associate Director Payer Integration Specialist in cleansing and maintaining the library of payers within the Salesforce. This role is committed to helping our Patient Support Center teams to assist customers by improving delivery of medication access information. 

 

This individual will work closely with PSC Operations colleagues and external vendors to develop an understanding of payer structure and organization and how it impacts underlying transaction-level patient data. He/she will be responsible for exploratory data analysis, assist in designing and maintaining the payer library to optimize operational performance & patient experience. 

Major Activities 

  • Responsible for understanding payment policies along with possessing strong analytical skills to support the AD, Payer Integration Specialist in distributing coverage changes and payer trends for the Reimbursement Team
  • Responsible for maintenance of payer library of information/tools related to documentation guidelines and communicates this information to applicable team. 
  • Assists with library specific training of PSC new hires and continuing education of existing Reimbursement Team
  • Collaborates to maintain effective quality control processes to ensure data integrity. 
  • Participates in activities that improve department operations and/or support to the department for quality improvements
  • Prepares ad hoc reporting at the request of the AD, Payer Specialist or the PSC leadership.

 

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION 

  • Candidate should be in an accredited degree-granting college​ or university pursuing a graduate degree. Major in quantitative subject (e.g., Business, Healthcare, Behavioral Science, Social/Life Sciences, or related program) strongly preferred. 

LANGUAGES - Fluent in English (oral and written) 

  • Understanding of the US Healthcare payer environment; commercial and government plans and basic differentiators
  • Excel in problem solving and strategic thinking. Develop innovative, resourceful solutions to complex, unstructured problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Strength in translating complex, technical analyses into clear and actionable recommendations for business stakeholders.
  • Highly proficient with MS Excel, creation of pivot tables, etc. 

Preferred Competencies

  • Experience applying design thinking principles.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and action-oriented environment.
  • Self-starter! Ability to be given direction and run with it.

  • Impact patient experience in our support programs around starting & staying on therapy through improving the PSC user experience and ability to provide deeper analytics.
