Water Quality Scientist III

RES has an immediate opening in our Fort Lauderdale office for a Mid-Level Water Quality Scientist. 

The mission: This position provides key water quality professional support for NPDES, TMDL, and BMAPs. 

What your day-to-day might look like?

Your focus will be assisting state, county, and local governments with implementation of their NPDES MS4 Phase I and Phase II permits. This may include performing inspections, preparing annual reports, coordinating with stakeholders and regulatory agencies, assisting with TMDL implementation, assisting with BMAP implementation, assisting in BPCP preparation, and drafting priority plans, etc. You will provide task lead support with other disciplines and FDOT and Local Government staff that are needed for the NPDES MS4 Permit Support.  

In addition to that, your task assignments may include NPDES construction inspections, water quality analysis, and other surface water quality related tasks. 

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have many of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline
  • Three to five years’ experience in NPDES program implementation with a strong understanding of MS4 permits and TMDLs.
  • Strong computer skills, at a minimum full working knowledge of MS Office products and GIS products.
  • Construction erosion, sediment, and control inspections and reading roadway construction plans.
  • Background in project management including management of document preparation, inspection data, and water quality analysis as task lead.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness to travel approximately 15% of your time to and from the field
