MTCC AmeriCorps College Coach - Carroll College

The Saints Success Center (SSC) is committed to serving and assisting all students throughout their academic career at Carroll College. This is accomplished via mentoring, advising, listening, creating and delivering exceptional programs, and working collaboratively so that every student who enters the space feels supported, encouraged and inspired. The aim is to promote the active utilization of existing programs and resources to foster a supportive environment that enhances the likelihood of success for students.

 

The project will need the AmeriCorps member to serve as a College Coach to encourage campus-wide community members to actively utilize resources, with the hope to provide solutions to problems or issues confronting the campus and/or Helena community. Programs that provide assistance on campus include: Financial Aid, Accessibility Services, Academic Advising, Career Services, Wellness, Student Life, Food Pantry, etc. 

 

Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) serves as the intermediary for this project. MTCC is a CEO-led coalition of colleges and universities that support civic engagement, service learning, and volunteerism across the state. Every year we place cohorts of full-time, part-time, and summer AmeriCorps members with schools, colleges, nonprofits, and government agencies in Montana. The AmeriCorps projects we facilitate increase educational equity, break down barriers between higher education and community organizations, and address the root causes of poverty in communities across the state.


As an AmeriCorps member, you will serve in the Saint Success Center and will play a critical role in connecting students to necessary resources for their success at Carroll College. You will assist in the maintenance of the online job board, Handshake, and assist with a variety of special events offered by the department. These events include advising and registration events, global learning initiatives, (Career) fairs and Expo’s, Etiquette Dinner, etc. You will assist in the creation and reactivation of a PEER Advisor mentorship program, including recruitment, training, and ongoing maintenance of a PEER Advisor program. During the Fall semester you will post, research, provide workshop(s), training or updates for students for acquiring scholarships to assist students in funding higher education. During the Spring semester you will provide education on Financial Literacy.
