Jr. Reliability Engineer

BAE Systems is seeking a Reliability Engineer for an exciting opportunity to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM), the Sentinel weapon system. The selected candidate must have knowledge of reliability technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and statistical techniques. Engineers with experience in assessment and modeling practices for development of subsystems with high Mean Time Between Critical Failure (MTBCF) and effective reliability levels for components that are difficult to test in-situation but must work after years of inactivity.

The role of this position involves some creative and exciting work in areas of reliability such as overall system modeling including both components in series and redundant relationships with common causes assessment included. The candidate will assist in design and implement effective data collection structures and analysis systems to feed into an incremental reliability growth assessment. The candidate will comply with industry standards and analyze performance reports. The candidate will analyze preliminary plans and reliability engineering programs to achieve U.S Air Force reliability objectives.

Responsibilities Include:

Reliability, availability, and maintainability guidance and leadership/support to various Integrated Product Teams, ensuring program requirements and performances are understood.

Technical subject matter expertise (SME) on creation and review of reliability math models and allocations, Reliability Block Diagrams, Functional Block Diagrams and Reliability and Maintainability Program Plans.

Conduct technical assessments and make recommendations.

Propose changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or reliability processes.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
 

 

Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.

3 years of experience in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability Guidance and Leadership/Support to various Integrated Product Teams, ensuring program requirements and performances are understood (2 years with Masters degree).

Familiarity with systems engineering practices and procedures.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance and all required Special Program Accesses; the criteria for obtaining clearance is set by the US Government.

 



Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
 

 

Masters degree.

Design phases of reliability, availability, maintainability, supportability, and logistics; system integration and testing; Environment Stress Screening (ESS); Accelerated Lifetime Testing (ALT); Highly Accelerated Lifetime Testing (HALT); maintainability demonstrations; reliability demonstrations; growth planning and testing; and sparing analysis.

Evaluating engineering design concepts for a new weapon system.

Assessing reliability data of fielded systems for the purpose of assessing and documenting RAM and Logistics metrics and reliability (cumulative and instantaneous) growth trends.

Performing reliability (MTBF, MTBCF, PoF, Ao, Am, Ai) analysis, maintainability and logistics (LRU, MTBM, MTTR, MDT) analysis, sparing analysis, and simulations which support military and industry standards.

Experience recommending design or test methods and statistical analysis (AMSAA Planning Model and Reliability Growth Curves).

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $75510 - $128340
