Medical Assistant (MA)

As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for both clinical and administrative duties, playing a crucial role in our healthcare team. Overview:

  • Functions as a support person for the patient; assists the patient to the examination room, gives information to the patient, and collects information for the provider
  • Obtains vital signs and other pertinent physical data
  • Completes and updates the medical history of the patient
  • Check the health care plan appropriate for the patient’s age
  • Assists the doctor with examinations, minor surgeries, performs EKGs, hearing and vision testing, and nebulizer treatments
  • Performs venipunctures and gives immunizations
  • Performs Hct/Hgb’s, hematocrit, blood sugars, urine dipsticks, pregnancy tests, lead screens, strep tests, etc
  • Prepares and sends out laboratory, pap, lead screens, and STD for testing
  • Keeps logs and paperwork associated with the above tests and procedures current
  • Records laboratory tests and processes laboratory test results
  • Follows up on TB and Immunizations
  • Updates EMR with test results and checks results against the lab test log.
  • Completes medical and laboratory supply inventories for all exam rooms and labs
  • Sterilizes instruments

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent 
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant (MA) program
  • Medical Assistant: Proof of a Diploma/Degree or Certificate
  • Certified Medical Assistant strongly preferred
  • Certification: Proof of current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (AED included)
  • Required to provide education, dates, and any certificates at the time of application
  • Experience with electronic health records preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, some locations require it (Please check job posting) 
  • Interacts with colleagues and patients in a professional manner
  • Possess excellent communication skills
