Job Description

Academic Year Internship Program:

Program Dates: September 16, 2024 – April 18, 2025 

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.  We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 

Platforms Editorial (Sports): The Content Merchandizing & Operations group is responsible for curating and programming all the content, collections, events, and user interactions on the Peacock platform. Working in conjunction with the Strategy, Marketing, Metadata, Creative, and many other teams, we come up with the curation plan for the platform and enter it into a CMS. The team is currently broken into three sections: one focusing on overall curation of the platform, another focusing on the live events and sports streamed on the platform, and a third focusing on testing. The Sports & Live Events intern will primarily work on sports metadata optimization, live event coverage, sports imagery, and more. 

Platforms Editorial (Entertainment): The Content Merchandizing & Operations group is responsible for curating and programming all the content, collections, events, and user interactions on the Peacock platform. Working in conjunction with the Strategy, Marketing, Metadata, Creative, and many other teams, we come up with the curation plan for the platform and enter it into a CMS. The team is currently broken into three sections: one focusing on overall curation of the platform, another focusing on the live events and sports streamed on the platform, and a third focusing on testing. The Entertainment intern will primarily work on platform curation, metadata optimization, WWE live events, Election, special curation for events like Halloween and New Years, brand hub promotion, and more.

SEO: The SEO team leads search marketing initiatives for the Growth Product team and works closely with the Product Marketing team to maximize online visibility for PeacockTV.com landing pages and blog. Through this internship, the candidate will get an opportunity to work on real-time projects from start to finish and develop a solid understanding of search marketing, technical SEO optimizations, and content development.  

MarTech (Product Management): The Marketing Technology Intern will join the MarTech team at Peacock. Directly enabling the product management of Peacock’s MarTech stack; the intern will gain exposure to marketing strategy, AI & emerging technology tools, subscriber engagement products, product management methods, and data & infrastructure considerations. During the internship, they will develop and maintain documentation critical to enabling business teams and ensuring transparency. They will be an integral part of launching new acquisition and engagement products and experiences. They will also have the opportunity to support the Comcast NBCUniversal Summit – a key touchpoint to share the latest & greatest in MarTech and to deepen the relationship of MarTech teams across the organization.  

DTC Solutions and Operations: This intern will support the TVE editorial team, which is responsible for the editorial curation and programming of nbc.com and the NBC app, as well as programming the suite of NBCU Cable Entertainment network apps, including Bravo, SYFY, USA and others. The intern will gain experience in the workflows for publishing and curating editorial content across the various brand apps, as well as measuring content performance. Responsibilities may include: supporting the Director of Solutions & Operations with key digital integrations across the TVEverywhere brand apps & Peacock (as well as NBC.com and USANetwork.com), assisting the wider editorial team with key production tasks and updates, and updating documentation regarding editorial processes and workflows. 

 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: 

Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2024 through April 2025). December 2024 graduates are not eligible for our 2024-2025 Academic Year Program. 

Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 

Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (September 2024 to April 2025). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 

Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 16, 2024 to April 18, 2025. 

Must be working from a location within a U.S. state during all hours worked. 

Desired Characteristics: 

Students with class standing of junior or above preferred. 

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 

Excellent organization, communication skills, and attention to detail. 

Strong writing and critical-thinking skills. 

Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. 

For Platforms Editorial: Experience working with a CMS; Experience curating content for a video service or website. 

For SEO: Passion for SEO and digital marketing; Basic understanding of organic search (algorithms, ranking factors, copywriting); Fundamentals of business analytics; Exposure to marketing research courses; Interest in pop culture and media/entertainment; Understanding structured data (schema) and knowledge of creating and implementing schema mark-up is a plus. 

For MarTech: Interest in and experience with marketing teams and/or marketing technology; Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with different teams and stakeholders; Undergrad classwork in marketing or previous internship experience in marketing, media, technology; Familiarity/ability to learn managing projects and tickets in AirTable and JIRA; Presentation creation and comfort with public speaking; Curious to learn, and ideally have some experience in ecommerce, live-streams, social and influencer/affiliate marketing programs; Experience and knowledge of new and innovative technologies, such as AI; Familiarity with MMPs, Analytics platforms, and Data Management platforms (such as Kochava, Claravine, Adobe Analytics, etc.); Experience in testing and rolling out new functionality in QA/UAT testing environments. 

For DTC Solutions and Operations: Interest in data; Knowledge of digital/streaming trends and technologies; Familiarity with content management systems & image editing tools—Photoshop, Canva, etc. 

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $17.00 

The hourly rate for graduate student interns is $25.00 

 

INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ATTENDING U.S. UNIVERSITIES: 

To participate in NBCUniversal’s 2024-2025 Academic Year internship program, you must confirm at the time of interview that you will be able to provide US work authorization documentation for the entire duration of the internship. Since the NBCU Academic Year Internship Program spans the traditional “Fall” and “Spring” semesters, you should talk to the DSO at your school’s International Students Services Office about your need to apply for CPT work authorization twice to ensure you are authorized to work both semesters and throughout the entirety of the program. 

Please also note that future visa sponsorship at NBCUniversal is rarely available for post-grad employment opportunities.
