Job Summary:
The parent educator works collaboratively with families, education staff and community partners to ensure the Pre-School for All (PFA) program meets the needs of the whole child and supports parents/guardians in addressing family needs and setting and achieving ambitious family goals. The parent educator assists the teacher in planning and implementing programs and services offered.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, child development, child and family services, early childhood education, psychology or sociology with preschool or kindergarten experience;
- Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a related field of study may be considered;
- Two years of experience working intensely with young children and families of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in a counseling setting, school setting, or through a social service agency;
- Demonstrated success in the coordination of comprehensive services in support of at-risk families;
- Strong background in early childhood education, social/emotional skill development, and advocacy;
- Experience organizing and facilitating parent activities;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends;
- Must hold a valid state of Illinois driver’s license; and
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Salary:
- Starting salary of $49,029, including a competitive benefits package;
- Employee assistance program offered to employees and their immediate family members.
Working Conditions: Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
