Job Summary:
The pre-kindergarten classroom teacher is responsible for planning engaging instruction for students using the Creative Curriculum.  The teacher is responsible for differentiating instruction for all students.  The teacher administers the pre-school screening tool and uses the Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment system to collect student achievement data and monitor growth.  . The teacher is responsible for developing, monitoring and supporting IEP goals for those students eligible for special education services.  The teacher is responsible for working collaboratively with therapists to plan and implement student IEP goals. The teacher communicates with students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.  The teacher is responsible for creating an environment of respect and rapport, in which safety and order is the norm. 

 
Qualifications:

  • Current and valid  Illinois Professional Educator License with an early childhood (birth to three) endorsement;
  • Individual must be flexible, creative, and child centered;
  • Candidate shall have knowledge of best instructional practices for teaching developmental learning skills;
  • Candidate must be able to model and teach students socially acceptable behaviors and employ positive reinforcement programs;
  • Individual must be able to create a warm and nurturing environment in which children can explore and begin to develop socially and academically;
  • Experience using Teaching Strategies GOLD and Creative Curriculum desired;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.


 Salary and Benefits:

  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twenty years of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule;

Working Conditions:

  • 180 days per year - August through May/June
