ACE Summer Fellow: Public Health

ACE Summer Fellows are an essential part of ACE's mission to engage young voters through nonpartisan research, and empower them to make informed choices. We are seeking students with an interest in US public health policy to research and publish with our team this summer. ACE is a nonpartisan, nonprofit think tank.

Summer Fellows collaborate to produce nonpartisan, accessible research briefs for publication. Research teams are led by ACE Research Associates—graduate students with expertise in their field or highly-qualified undergraduate students. Research Associates work one-on-one with Summer Fellows to develop and provide feedback on their research projects.

Key information:

  • Time Commitment: 10 hours per week
  • Start and End Dates: May 27-August 11, 2024
  • Application Deadline: Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, so we encourage interested students to apply as early as possible.
  • This internship is unpaid.
  • ACE provides support for academic credit and OPT.

ACE Fellows have gone on to earn nationally competitive fellowships, work at top think tanks and government agencies, and attend premier international affairs and public administration graduate programs.

Evaluation:

  • Summer Fellow work is gradated at each stage of the research process by rubrics that are available to them in advance.
  • Evaluation covers aspects like variety and quality of sources at the background research stage, organization at the outline stage, and nonpartisan writing style at the draft stage.

Technical Platforms:

  • ACE utilizes Google Drive to track and store all research. Previous experience with Google Drive is not mandatory, but Summer Fellows must be willing to work EXCLUSIVELY through Google Drive, not Microsoft Word or Pages.
  • ACE utilizes Canvas, a learning management system similar to Google Classroom, to submit assignments and provide resources. Previous experience with Courseworks is not mandatory, but Summer Fellows must be willing to make an account on the platform.
