A Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) internship typically involves working closely with the compliance team to assist in various projects.

As a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) intern, you may be involved in a variety of projects that will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in the field. Some of the specific projects you could work on include:

 

  1. Risk Assessments: Conducting risk assessments to identify potential risks to the organization's operations, processes, and data security.

    2. Policy Development: Assisting in the development and review of compliance policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry regulations and best practices.

    3. Regulatory Compliance Monitoring: Monitoring regulatory changes and updating compliance requirements to ensure the organization's adherence to laws and standards.

    4. Compliance Audits: Supporting compliance audits by preparing documentation, conducting interviews, and analyzing findings to help ensure compliance with internal and external regulations.

    5. Compliance Training: Participating in compliance training sessions to educate employees on regulatory requirements and promote a culture of compliance within the organization.

    6. Process Documentation: Documenting compliance processes, procedures, and controls to ensure transparency and consistency in governance and risk management practices.

    7. Compliance Reporting: Contributing to the preparation of compliance reports and presentations for management and regulatory authorities to communicate the organization's compliance status.

    8. Risk Mitigation: Assisting in identifying potential risks within the organization and developing strategies to mitigate and manage those risks effectively.

    9. Policy Adherence: Helping to ensure that employees and departments adhere to internal policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines to maintain a culture of integrity and

 

The intern may also participate in security awareness and compliance training sessions, document processes, and contribute to compliance reporting. Additionally, the intern may assist in ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations, as well as help in identifying and mitigating potential risks within the organization. This internship provides valuable experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, and governance practices.


These projects will offer you practical exposure to the complexities of governance, risk management, and compliance, and allow you to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Expected graduation in December 2024 or June 2025
  • GPA > 3.0 required; GPA > 3.5 preferred
  • Previous consulting internship experience preferred (within related fields)
  • Class-based curriculum for minimum 2 years in related subject areas (cybersecurity, network administration, application-development, information security, privacy, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills: ability to analyze a problem from different angles/approaches
  • Participation in extracurricular activities (student organizations, volunteer organizations, project teams, sports teams, etc.); leadership positions preferable
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience working in teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including creative visualizations (PowerPoint, Power BI, Adobe creative suite)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ambitious learner with a passion for expanding their knowledge
