IT Operations Intern (Year Round)

BWXT is currently seeking a Year Round IT Operations Intern for its Erwin, TN location!

 

The Intern will assist the IT Service Center professional staff with providing computer hardware, software, and technical support  The candidate will be under the direction of the NFS IT Operations Manager and work onsite in our Erwin, TN offices. We do not provide housing or relocation assistance.

 

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software (Windows 10, Windows 11, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • iPhone deployment and support
  • Monitoring help desk support requests
  • Providing end user support with various levels of technical and non-technical staff
  • In addition, Intern may assist the local IT staff with a variety of projects

Qualifications:

  • Awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software and some network troubleshooting.
  • Awareness of the PC Industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology.  Interested applicants should possess excellent analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems through additional research as needed.
  • Ability to perform tasks such as providing operating system and application software installations and upgrades.
  • Able to interact effectively with management, staff and other company personnel, and work independently, and/or as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Current Undergraduate or Graduate student in a Computer Science, Information Technology, or related program.
  • Other degrees will be considered if other listed requirements are met.
  • Work onsite in our Erwin, TN location year round: part-time during the school year and full-time during the summer and other break periods.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
