President of Northern Light Mercy Hospital

Northern Light Health, headquartered in Brewer, Maine, has an exciting opportunity for a passionate, accomplished, and focused individual to lead our facilities in Portland, Maine. We are looking for a dynamic person to lead Northern Light Mercy Hospital, a Catholic hospital established in 1918 by the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.  Mercy is an acute care hospital serving the greater Portland community with 77 licensed beds, outpatient locations across the region, more than 200 physicians on an active medical staff, and a team of more than 1,470 employees. Mercy Hospital offers primary care as well as a range of specialty and intensive services. Here you will find the latest medical technology and expertise resulting in care that recognized each patient as an individual. The president also serves as a senior vice president of Northern Light Health and represents their hospital at the system level and serves on the Leadership Council, which is led by the system’s president and CEO.

This person must have a strong interest in delivering exceptional rural healthcare within a comprehensive 10-hospital health system. Mercy is nestled along the banks of the Fore River in Portland, which is in southern Maine’s Cumberland County. Portland is well-known for its coastal charm, the cobbled streets of the Old Port, a nationally renowned food scene, four seasons of outdoor activity, and top-notch public schools. 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Master’s Degree in Business or Health Administration required
    • MD, DO, MSH, or similar advanced clinical degree accepted with attainment of MBA or MHA within 18 months of hire
    • A minimum of eight (8) years of senior management experience in a hospital or health care setting
