Land Surveyor
This role involves close collaboration with team members who specialize in surveying inland rivers and riverbanks for potential maritime investments and various construction and engineering projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Where applicable, provide engineering and technical support for personnel regarding construction, operations, and/or maintenance tasks and assignments at a project site.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work with current licensed surveyor with construction layout and grade work while utilizing Carlson Survey and AutoCAD to convert field data into as-built drawings.
- Willing to learn to use bathymetric survey software, Hypack Dredgepack software to perform quantity calculations.
- Must be willing to work away from home on project sites, when needed.
- Taking measurements of distances and angles on a property or section of land to establish legal boundaries.
- Performing mathematical calculations to determine and confirm surveying measurements.
- Researching and consulting historical maps and surveys, as well as legal documents relating to the property or section of land being measured.
- Collaborating and working with project managers, construction crews, and government agencies, when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, and GIS programs.
- Experience using hand surveying tools (distance measuring wheels, plumb bobs, levels) and electronic surveying tools (total station levels, GPS equipment).
- Thorough Understanding of safety regulations related to assigned projects.
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be both creative and analytical.
- Extremely meticulous and accurate.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
- Completion of a 2- or 4-year Land Surveying or Geomatics Program preferred.
- Certified Licensed Land Surveyor preferred.
- Prior experience as a Land Surveyor required.
- Prior experience in construction preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Physically able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
- Must not be afraid of water.
- Must pass drug screen and other pre-employment requirements.
