Grant Writer (Biostabilizer) Intern

About this Job  

As a Grant Writer Intern at Esurgi, you will research scientific literature, apply academic knowledge to solve industry problems, write and apply to grant applications for a device that treats people with chronic low back pain. 

This internship is suitable for anyone who is interested in a career that requires manuscript writing, research or funding such as in medicine, research and development, academia or non-profit sector. This UNPAID internship will take place for 6 months. 

 

Job Responsibilities and Experience gained upon completion: 

  • Participate in the grant writing process for proposals.  
  • Become familiar with grant applications to organizations such as NIH and NSF. 
  • Conduct literature research on chronic low back pain. 
  • Complete elements of grant applications. 
  • Outreach to medical consultants and experts in biomedical technology.  
  • Conduct research to find potential sources of grants for Esurgi. 
  • Participate in writing up the selected grant proposals.   

 

Minimum Requirements:  

  • Prior experience in scientific writing, grant writing, proposal writing or project writing in healthcare.  
  • Pursuing or have a four-year degree in healthcare, biology, biotechnology, kinesiology, physical therapy, or any related field.  
  • Researching scientific literature skills, e.g., comfortable conducting literature review using Google Scholar, PubMed, and other sources.  
  • Organizational and time-management skills.  
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented.  
  • Ability to work remotely, independently and as part of a collaborative team.  

 

Preferred Qualification:  

  • Students who have writing experience in the sciences or have taken an upper-division writing course.  
  • Knowledge of grants and grant development  
  • Familiarity with research methodology  
  • Undergraduate or Graduate studies in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Biomedical Science or other related fields.   

 

About Our Internships  

A typical internship at Esurgi is essentially a special project in the work setting. The interns will be assigned a mentor with an executive background. The intern and the mentor will develop an internship plan. This will be based on the intern’s educational background, career goals, and realistic (preferably interdisciplinary / team) projects within the Esurgi sphere. The plan includes objectives, success factors, and deliverables. The intern and mentor will meet regularly to review the progress and plan of the intern.  

  • This internship is intended for students to gain entry-level job experience. 
  • This internship is Unpaid, is applicable for credit, curricular practical training (CPT) or optional practical training (OPT). 
  • This internship is for six months
