ADM Commodity Trader Summer Internship

As an ADM Commodity Trader Summer Intern , you will have the opportunity to apply knowledge gained in the classroom in an environment that includes grain origination, sales, logistics, and risk management. You will have exposure to the expansive ADM network of resources and a leadership team that is committed to giving you the best possible environment to learn and grow. Throughout the internship, you will be fully immersed in our team that is responsible for developing long-term producer relationships to secure supply chains critical to sustainably feed the worlds growing population. Your primary experience will be as a member of a trading team where you will play an integral part of the local strategy for success, including trading and marketing strategies, logistics management, customer relationship management and excellence in execution.


Job Responsibilities

  • You will develop a deep understanding of local, national and global market trends, calculate business margins and their effect on commodity pricing, and manage local bids/offers
  • Complete and present a project that is identified by the local team that will benefit ADM’s customer engagement or market position
  • Work to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically
  • Understand the local freight market dynamics to calculate and execute the best logistics tactics for ADM
  • Strive to understand customer requirements and effectively deliver a best in class customer experience to differentiate ADM from the competition
  • Network to attain positive, collaborative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions 
  • Engage with accounting and administrative staff to ensure timely and accurate accounting and contract management
  • Effectively communicate competitive advantages and vulnerabilities to further the development and success of ADM to key internal stakeholders

  • Basic understanding of grain markets and production agriculture 


STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE (qualifications)

  •  
    • Able to complete an internship in the summer (May/June-August 2024)
    • Must be geographically flexible to relocate to ADM sites
    • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a major OR minor in [area] with an anticipated graduation between December 2024 and Summer 2026
    • Overall 2.8 GPA
    • Ability to function effectively, both independently and with a team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to collaborate within various levels of an organization
    • Expert organizational and time-management skills
    • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook and Teams
    • Open to interning in any of the following locations: Decatur, IL; St. Louis, MO; Lafayette, IN; Des Moines, IA; Toledo, OH; Velva, ND; Minneapolis, MN; Lincoln, NE; Alpharetta, GA; Overland Park, KS; Evansville, IN; Havana, IL; Mound City, IL; Memphis, TN; Frankfort, IN; Valdosta, GA; Mt.
