We currently seek an Optical Transmission Scientist to join our division located in Somerset, NJ.
 

Who you are:
The Optical Scientist position will work design and test the transmission behavior and performance of fiber-based technology, including novel optical fiber and fiber-based devices . The position will likely include interfacing with advanced designs and research , and development of fiber and fiber-based devices. 


What you get to do:

  • Conduct innovative research in optical fiber technology, particularly in the area of data transmission for both data transport and optical sensing
  • Conceive, design, assembl e and test the transmission behavior and performance of fiber-based technology
  • Contributions to external publications and the generation of intellectual property, as well as partaking in interactions with customers
  • Perform other related duties as required by management


What will help you succeed:
 

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Working industry experience in telecom
  • Expertise in waveguide photonics , transmission theory, systems architecture, and related disciplines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, preferably as demonstrated by past publications or presentations
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience working with optical components and optical fibers, specifically optical fiber telecom system testing.
  • Coursework and/or research experience in photonics and optics, preferably optical fibers
  • Lab automation and computer skills
  • Ability to understand and perform optical simulations
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel
  • Maintain discretion when working with confidential and proprietary information
  • Strict adherence to Company safety policies and procedures
  • Conform to all aspects of the company's “Standards of Conduct” document
