Land Use Planner

Where would you step in? 
You will work with a team of engineers, landscape architects, planners, and environmental professionals on a variety of infrastructure and complex land use projects . You will sit in our Westfield, MA office and work in a hybrid work environment.  

Our Land Use Team and Projects  
With nearly 100 professional engineers, our senior technical and project management leaders have earned an outstanding reputation with private, state, and local government clients who are also recipients of multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards. We assist clients from the initial conceptual planning stages of a project through schematic design, design development, permitting, construction documents, bidding, and construction oversight. Well versed in local, state, and federal regulations, as well as ever evolving climate change impacts and concerns, we strive to incorporate sustainability and resiliency into our site plans and designs.

What will you be doing? 
You will provide professional, technical, and administrative work supporting planning and permitting  activities for diverse projects, including graphic, visualization and planning services, community outreach, coastal resiliency, site development, public infrastructure, and transportation. You will contribute to the development of planning documents such as Master Plans, Conservation and Development Plans, Open Space Plans, Redevelopment Plans, and Feasibility Studies. Responsibilities involve community design, graphic design, and visualization products and services in support of planning projects, reviewing and analyzing zoning codes and regulations, coordinating permits, attending meetings, assisting in feasibility studies, and planning, translating ideas into plans, conducting research, applying for grants, facilitating public involvement, participating in business development, coordinating with team members and subconsultants, and overseeing field work for environmental investigations. You will also assist in preparing reports, studies, illustrations, and plans.

What do you need? 
You will need a BS degree, MS preferred, in urban planning, geography, environmental studies, or a related field, along with 1-4 years of relevant experience. You will need to be proficient in GIS software, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and other software, along with excellent analytical, research, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills. Familiarity with MA Zoning Act, subdivision regulations and familiarity with sustainability practices and smart growth principles is preferred. You will need to be detail-oriented, with strong organizational and project management abilities, able to work independently and collaboratively.

Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors; the salary range for this position is typically $64,000 - $82,000.
