Revenue Cycle Manager

Job Description

A Revenue Cycle Manager in a mental health care setting plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations related to patient billing and revenue collection. This position ensures that all aspects of the revenue cycle are efficiently managed to optimize revenue and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee Revenue Cycle Operations: Manage the end-to-end revenue cycle processes, including patient registration, insurance verification, billing, coding, claims submission, and collections.
  2. Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the revenue cycle.
  3. Team Management: Lead and supervise a team of billing and coding professionals, providing training, support, and performance evaluations.
  4. Financial Analysis: Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to identify trends and areas for improvement in the revenue cycle.
  5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in billing and coding regulations.
  6. Technology Utilization: Implement and manage revenue cycle management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems to streamline operations.
  7. Patient Relations: Address patient inquiries and disputes related to billing and insurance coverage, ensuring a high level of customer service.
  8. Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure accurate and timely documentation and billing practices.
  9. Contract Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with insurance companies and other payers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred for higher-level positions.
  2. Experience: Several years of experience in revenue cycle management, preferably in a mental health or healthcare setting.
  3. Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Revenue Cycle Professional (CRCP) or Certified Professional Biller (CPB) are advantageous.
  4. Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of revenue cycle management software, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  5. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data and generate actionable insights.
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with staff, patients, and insurance companies.
  7. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  8. Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of healthcare billing and coding regulations, including ICD-10, CPT codes, and insurance guidelines.
