AI Language Models In Education Research Internship

As a community of researchers, we aim to explore the applications of AI language models in education. LLMs, also known as large language models, are a powerful type of artificial intelligence trained to comprehend massive repositories of texts & designed to mimic sophisticated human language patterns. We encourage interns to delve into research that applies LLMs in educational settings through interactive learning, personalized tutoring, automated grading, etc.  

After learning how to navigate the 1Cademy platform, researchers should break down complex research articles, present them as digestible pieces of information, and communicate their findings with the larger community. Ultimately, the internship is designed to encourage independent inquiry, cultivate research skills like analyzing and interpreting data, and work towards advancing research. 

Qualifications: 

• An academic background in topics related to STEM. Majors in education, business, humanities, and social sciences, are also encouraged to apply.
• Fluency in writing and reading in English.
• Submit your most current resume and unofficial transcripts, indicating a GPA above 3.2/4.0.
• Explain in a few paragraphs why you would apply to this specific community.

• Work remotely with an interdisciplinary community of talented students and researchers from different schools (5-10 hours per week).
• Collaborate with others to review existing research and identify topics for further study.
• Gain experience using crucial skills in research including paper analysis, summarization, and making connections across various disciplines.

• Work towards publishing research on the application of LLMs in modern education.

Responsibilities

• Read and summarize textbook chapters and scientific journal articles.
• Make connections between different ideas and concepts.
• Contribute concise summaries of information to the online 1Cademy platform.
• Attend weekly online meetings.
• Contribute to meetings by presenting work and engaging in discussions.
• All interactions, task fulfillment, and communications will be remote.
