Job Description

This is a professional, managerial position reporting to the Dean, Academic Affairs- Lakeland. The Program Director oversees the development, implementation, and promotion of the Postsecondary Vocational Program in Aerospace. Work requires the analysis of complex problems, planning of various interrelated activities, and the coordination of effort of multiple projects or functions, in addition to formulating and maintaining programmatic budgets.

Essential Duties/Functions:

• Develop the curriculum framework and all instructional materials for the program.
• Disseminates program information to appropriate college recipients (administrators, advisors, faculty, and program students) and appropriate recipients outside the college (accreditation or certifications agencies, state agencies, etc.).
• Assemble and compile all materials required for accreditation or certification of the program.
• Evaluate the preparation of students for entry into the program and administer all aspects of the selection process if a limited access program.
• Supervise adjunct instructors employed by the program.
• Coordinate practicums, clinicals, internships, joint ventures and/or work-related educational experiences for program students.
• Monitor program adherence to state regulations/national accreditation criteria.

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of principles and practices of professional training and development program design.
• Knowledge of curriculum development, instructional method theory, and practical applications.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of contacts of considerable importance within, and outside of, the college. Contacts outside the college where lack of tact or judgment may result in negative college relations to a limited degree.
• Ability to work independently with the responsibility for planning details and methods to obtain definite objectives and to make decisions within broad limitations of policy and professional standards.
• Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Working Conditions/Additional Information

• This position is a full-time on-campus position located at our Winter Haven campus, but will travel to event locations as necessary. (Remote/hybrid options are not available.)
• Weekend and evening work may be required.
• Position may be required to work during College closures (such as winter/spring break and inclement weather closures).
• Reliable transportation is required for travel to campuses, centers, and community locations. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License is required (or must be eligible to obtain a Florida’s license within 30 days).
• This position will require the ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Aerospace or related discipline.

Preferred Education

Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Aerospace or related discipline.

Required Experience:

Three years of professional, exempt-level industry experience with FAA certifications as a pilot and flight instructor.

Preferred Experience:

Five or more years industry experience with FAA Certification as a pilot and flight instructor. Three years of flight instruction experience and one year of ground instruction in an FAA Part 141 flight program.
