Medicare For All Organizing Intern

Public Citizen is a national, non-partisan, public interest group with more than 500,000 members and supporters. We take on corporate power and seek to advance justice and democracy, health and equality.

Every day, Americans experience a health care system that doesn’t work, and they know it. Public support for a single-payer, Medicare for All system is surging, and politicians are paying attention. Now it’s time to seize the opportunity to drive forward the Medicare for All campaign, and to win.

The Medicare for All organizing internship is designed to provide a better understanding of the role of public interest activism within the federal and local legislative processes.

Please note: this is not a policy internship. The position is expected to give a broad experience in public interest activism and movement building and introduce tools for public education and advocacy within federal and local legislative processes.

The Medicare for All intern will provide support to our Medicare For All Resolutions Campaign, which coordinates activist leaders around the country to pass city and county resolutions. They may also assist in mobilizing activists in target congressional districts.

Our ideal intern is passionate about Medicare for All and is also seeking to gain experience in organizing and issue-based campaigns. This is a remote internship, although the successful candidate has the option of working from our D.C. office two days a week.

Qualifications:

The following skills and experience are desirable:

  • Basic knowledge and experience of grassroots organizing, through campus activism or electoral or issue campaigns
  • Interest in health justice and building a movement for universal healthcare (Medicare for All).
  • Willingness to assist with all aspects of organizing and advocacy work
  • Strong organizational, writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work at least 15 hours a week
  • Ability to work remotely

To apply:
