The Tax internship is part time for fall semester and is hybrid based out of the Nashville, TN corporate office. After the conclusion of the fall semester, successful interns have the opportunity to continue in their role throughout the school year. 

Responsibilities

Tax Interns typically:

  • Sit under immediate direction and guidance of a Bridgestone Income Tax Manager providing day to day assistance on various tax projects.
  • Participate in the preparation of federal, state, and international tax filings including but not limited to: determining estimated payments, reconciling trial balance, analyzing fixed assets, interacting with finance teammates to gather tax information,  compiling US Federal 1120s, gathering information for international IRS Form 5471 and 5742s, and collecting state apportionment information.
  • Assist with Canadian tax return preparation.
  • Assist with tax accounting process including but not limited to:  preparing monthly and quarterly tax entries, developing and maintain tax basis balance sheets, and calculating permanent and temporary tax adjustments during year end close process.
  • Support the development of responses to IRS information requests.
  • Use various ERP systems and other software solutions including but not limited to: SharePoint, SAP, Lawson, Corptax for Tax Filings, and OneSource for Provision.
  • Provide support for a variety of tax savings or special projects including but not limited to:  Tangible Property Regulations and Research & Development Credit.
  • Assist the international tax team with the transfer pricing documentation preparation process

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you need…

  • To be pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or another applicable major and actively enrolled in an accredited university the semester prior to your start date
  • To be sophomore-senior level standing with a GPA of at least 3.0
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Products (i.e. Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • No other work experience is required. We will teach you everything you need to know!
