MISSION
The Air Force Health Facilities Division represents the Air Force Surgeon General for all matters concerning planning, programming, design & construction, initial outfitting and transition of Air Force Medical Service projects, including medical, dental, administrative and support facilities. The Health Facilities Division employs officers who oversee execution of facility projects worldwide. The Division supports 75 medical campuses comprised of more than 700 buildings totaling 16 million square feet. They provide expert consultant services to the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Army Corps of Engineers, Navy Facilities Command, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and premier healthcare Architect-Engineers and Contractors around the globe.

Developing state-of-the-art facilities with some of the most advanced medical technology, the Air Force Health Facilities Division requires personnel with an education in architecture or engineering and the ability to excel in leadership, management, communication and interpersonal skills.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Health Facilities Officer, you will be a primary technical consultant to Department of Defense agencies, healthcare and base-level leadership, contract agents, and nationally recognized civilian architects-engineering firms and premier construction companies.
In support of war-fighting, peacekeeping and humanitarian initiatives, you’ll manage comprehensive engineering, planning, and design and construction solutions for high-dollar, high-profile projects and develop and advocate facility design and technical requirements for medical treatment facilities throughout the United States, Europe, Middle-East, Southwest Asia, and the Pacific. Traveling is required of this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Direct teams involved in planning, design and construction projects
• Participate in the medical facility site planning and selection process
• Develop concept plans/programming documents
• Participate in the architect/engineer and construction contractor selections
• Perform functional and technical reviews of design/construction documents and drawings
• Identify requirements for medical equipment and furnishings
• Participate in acceptance inspections and construction surveillance
• Assist in transitional planning, initial outfitting, and post occupancy efforts
• Advise on medical facility master planning and life cycle management
• Conduct facility assessment studies to improve the functional use of existing space
• Perform engineering evaluations of building systems and components
• Provide consultant services for code interpretation and compliance
• Identify facility sustainment, restoration, and modernization requirements and advocate for project funding
• Travel to project and military treatment facility sites in support of planning/design/construction
