Economic and Community Development (Paid Graduate Assistant/Internship)

Title of Job: Graduate Assistant/Intern, Economic and Community Development 

Position Description: 

The Graduate Assistant/Intern position in Economic and Community Development is responsible for newsletter writing and production, assisting in conducting research and data tracking, social media, and support for public relations, projects and events. 

Major areas of responsibility: 

● Manage monthly production of the UMSL Community Connection newsletter including stories and events of community interest using IModules software 

● Work with team to support UMSL Anchor Institution Initiative’s research needs including for example: 

o local business and community outreach and data analysis 

o data analysis across institutions working on local hiring and purchasing 

● Support data collection on UMSL community engagement and impact 

● Update and manage web pages 

● Develop social media campaign and associated materials and implement program 

● Support projects, partnerships, and events as needed 

Requirements: 

● Current enrollment in a UMSL program 

● Excellent communication and writing skills 

● Experience with data analysis and research 

● Experience and skills with social media marketing and website management 

Compensation: 

This position is part-time (20 hours/week) for a semester with a stipend of $1,250/month. (Note: This position is not eligible for a tuition waiver.) Continuation of the position is contingent upon available funding and successful completion which will be assessed toward the end of each semester with potential renewal.
