Mechanical Engineering Intern

FutureFuel Chemical Company, formerly Eastman Chemical Company in Batesville, Arkansas, has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the summer 2025.  Candidates must be preparing to enter their junior year of Mechanical Engineering in the fall of 2025 and from an ABET accredited engineering school.   

 

Mechanical Engineering Interns work under the guidance of our Mechanical Engineering Project Engineers or Maintenance or Utilities Manager.  Responsibilities include: 

 

  • Providing technical assistance, process improvement, and manufacturing support for Manufacturing, Utilities, and Maintenance
  • Solving mechanical engineering problems and distinguishing between the relative merits of different plans and designs.
  • Troubleshooting and identifying root causes of mechanical problems
  • Working in teams or independently to increase production capacity, improve mechanical integrity, provide safer operations, or reduce energy requirements.
  • Applying sound process economics analysis principles to determine and document project values
  • Evaluating and specifying new mechanical equipment
  • Maintaining awareness and ties to corporate engineering practices and engineering resources to help implement projects
  • Assisting with the definition and implementation of capital projects that will result in process improvements or increased capacity
  • Managing several projects simultaneously and regularly communicating progress to stakeholders
  • Following safety and quality procedures
